You may have difficult, persistent personal problems, and you may have tried therapy before -- perhaps more than one kind, with significant costs in time and money -- yet not gotten the help you need. Regression therapy is a form of psychotherapy based in hypnosis that "cuts to the chase", a remarkable technique that gets to the basic cause of many kinds of internal conflict and allows you to truly heal the old mental and emotional wounds and misconceptions that are causing your present problem. Result: new happiness, personal balance, and the ability to manage life's decisions in a healthy way.

Regression therapy has been shown to successfully treat problems like anxiety, depression, addiction problems, the aftermath of sexual abuse, poor self esteem, timidity, relationship difficulties, and phobias. Troubling and disabling beliefs about oneself and the world can be brought to light and changed, stifled goals and talents revitalized, and spiritual awareness developed.

Simply put, regression is the act of mentally going back into the past. In regression therapy, hypnosis is used as a means to guiding you to briefly re-live episodes in your past that have had powerful effects on your subsequent life. With the therapist's assistance, you discover how you felt and what you did during those significant events, and how they have shaped your thoughts, feelings, assumptions, and decisions. Retrieving this knowledge gives you the power to understand how these long-buried patterns have blocked you, how to neutralize self-defeating assumptions and gain new freedom.

Past wounds can be healed

We are all products of our pasts. Everything you do, your present feelings and mental conceptions about yourself and the world, have been "programmed" into your mind by past experience. If your present state is consistently problematic, the reprogramming achieved through regression therapy is a key step toward happiness and health.

The basic point of regression is lucid identification of key experiences of infancy and childhood that are contributing to your present problems, and exploration of the ways they're doing it. Having done this, you open a line of internal communication with your Inner Child -- that is, the part of your subconscious mind that is living in your past -- and guide this part of yourself toward new ways of seeing itself, new ways of feeling and reacting and behaving. This process results in a powerful, positive transformation of your present.

In the regression therapy session you travel back to relive important events and heal the old psychological wounds that are causing your current problem. A thoroughly trained and qualified regression therapy specialist can help you to achieve this transformation.

A client's story

Susan had a serious problem with low self-esteem. She constantly was intimidated by others, and allowed them to make decisions for her. She came to my regression therapy service believing that she was unlikely to be successful because she had very few memories of her early life. However, in one hypnotherapy session she was astonished to find herself recalling a prenatal experience: while in her mother's womb, she heard her mother and grandmother conversing, the grandmother advised her mother to put her up for adoption, to which her mother agreed. In some way, Caroline picked up the intent of the conversation although the actual words were not understood by her: the unborn child grasped that she would be abandoned. And at that moment she formed a decisive concept -- that she was not worth keeping. This idea shaped her entire life. I was able to help her identify that concept and discard it, replacing it with the truth of her inherent worth. As a result, her life improved a hundredfold: she completed college, bought her own home, and developed a healthy intimate relationship.

Some common fears and myths about regression therapy

-It seems like a frightening idea. Suppose I can't deal with the things I remember?

This is a common misconception. Regression therapy with a qualified and experienced therapist is a safe procedure because your adult consciousness will be guided to view the past experiences from a mature, objective point of view.

-It probably won't work because I don't have many childhood memories.

With guided regression hypnotherapy, your mind will be able automatically to call up the memories you need to get to the roots of your current problems. It's not a matter of consciously "trying to remember". I will show you how to let your subconscious do the work.

-I've tried other kinds of therapy, and they haven't helped.

Most other forms of psychotherapy only address the symptoms that are troubling you. Regression therapy's particular power is its ability to get to the cause of the symptoms via hypnosis.

-I'm afraid of remembering something I'm not yet ready to process.

Hypnotherapy under the guidance of an expert regression therapist will only show you memories that you're currently ready to handle.

-I think I'm the type of person who can't be hypnotized or regress.

It's not true that some people just can't be hypnotized or experience regression. As long as you want to get better and are willing to take part in the treatment, you'll be able to enter this natural mental state. Your therapist will be able to help you get past any mental blocks about hypnosis and regression.

-I'm afraid that I'll be too scared to try this, that I can't get past my fears.

Actually, most fears arise from irrational concepts, and can be easily de-fused. In fact, the kinds of fears you have now can be a very helpful starting place for your healing journey.
