Can Medical Hypnosis Help You?

Absolutely! ... Our mind is so powerful and its ability to heal has not always been understood. It is fair to say that hypnosis – one of the most amazing of the brain’s functions – is probably the broadest and most versatile of the body’s healing properties..

But like all things that are hard to understand by those who desire proof and a definitive explanation, hypnosis has been pushed to the side with other more tangible and tools put into practice.

Over the years, however, many talented and well-trained hypnotists have been keeping the field alive with continued research and publicity. It has a name: Medical Hypnosis and it is both an art and a science.

So what is Medical Hypnosis and
what can it do for you?

It has been determined by the American Medical Association that roughly 70% of illness starts in the mind, although some doctors believe that number should be more like 90%. This is typically considered a psychosomatic illness, and caused through suggestion, or mental stress and feelings that affect the body to the point of a physical breakdown. And Medical Hypnosis is the use of hypnosis as part of the body’s healing process.

So you see the relationship? If the mind can be responsible for making the body ill, why not use the power of the mind to fix and repair it. It is a real conundrum why the medical profession does not look to medical hypnosis and include it more readily as part of its standard care options. That may not be the case much longer. It’s changing, but slowly.

We know that thoughts and moods can cause changes in hormones and neurotransmitters levels (chemicals that communicate between cells, controlling many of the body’s processes). These chemicals interact with most every part of the body, and the research and its use of it as a therapeutic remedy is called psycho-neuro-immunology.

Essentially, our state of mind plays a vital role in how our body responds to illness, and in its ability to repair itself. It’s not a new way of thinking, in fact, as far back as 1977, Andrew Schalley and Roger Guillemin received the Nobel Prize in 1977 after proving the brain uses neurotransmitters to 'give orders' to the body. Additional research by Michigan State University demonstrated that a single cell can be controlled by how we think.

With all of this science behind it, we can come to the conclusion that our mind can influence the brain, which then influences the body. Hypnosis is the action of accessing that part of the mind – the subconscious – for healing the body. The subconscious rules much of how the body works, and hypnosis taps into that to release the unlimited potential of our minds. Now you can see why it is, on the surface, miraculous. But, the results and are perfectly natural, and do possess a scientific explanation.

Probably some of the hypnotic demonstrations have perpetuated that belief. Warts are made to vanish. Ice creates heat blisters, bleeding from various pin pricks can be turned on and off with one command. People in a hypnotic state walk on hot coals without so much as an “ouch” or a burn on the bottom of the feet. Strength is increased. These displays are meant to show the incredible power we all have. It’s just medical hypnosis at work.

Among many of the positives of Medical Hypnotist include its safe and non-invasive nature. There are no unpleasant side effects, it is cost effective: only costing a fraction of standard medical care. It is safe, and works well with other therapies, often enhancing the result. When I work with a medical or a naturopathic doctor or chiropractor, for example, their patients prove positive results only after I step in with Medical Hypnosis. It is again proof that Medical Hypnosis has the ability to be an effective tool when other methods aren’t.

Let me take this idea a step further. Medical Hypnosis can also be used to control pain, as an analgesia or as a complete form of anesthesia. Thousands of surgeries have been successful using no anesthetic at all..just the power of thought and mind control. And, it has been used for the purpose for many, many years. Post-surgical recovery time is lessened. It’s not too good to be true. It is! And it’s been scientifically proven.

All I can hope is that you come away from this information with a new understanding and appreciation of hypnosis, and the body’s powerful ability to heal. That your subconscious can improve your physical health, strengthen immune systems, and relieve pain. It’s fast-acting, safe, without side effects.

And, once you understand this, consider using Medical Hypnosis if the need is present, or ever arises. If you have any questions, or need more information, please feel free to call me.
